Spencer Newman joined Sugar Hollow Solar as CFO in 2021, inspired by the opportunity to bring clean energy to Western North Carolina. With a background as Chair of Burlington Electric Utility and CFO for several renewable energy companies, Spencer applies his expertise to help the business grow while supporting the local community. In his role, he uses financial strategies to drive the company’s success and foster sustainable energy solutions.

Outside of work, Spencer enjoys skiing, hiking, and cooking, and he has a particular fondness for cold weather. What excites him most about working in solar is empowering local communities to economically source their own power. Described as outdoorsy, persistent, and forward-thinking, Spencer is dedicated to hard work and contributing to the success of the team and the company’s mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable future.
