Dynamite Roasting Company, a craft coffee roaster based in Black Mountain, NC, has achieved a major clean-energy milestone: their solar-powered production facility now generates 10 times the energy it consumes, powering roasting equipment, HVAC, lighting, an electric delivery van, and even employee EV charging. With Sugar Hollow Solar’s guidance on system design, incentives, and financial modeling, Dynamite installed two high-efficiency SunPower solar arrays—one at their café and a second, significantly larger system at their roastery.

Over the past five years, solar has eliminated their power bills, created long-term financial stability, and deepened their commitment to sustainability. Their roastery array alone has produced more than 309 MWh, offsetting nearly half a million pounds of coal and over 100,000 miles of gasoline driving per year. This case study highlights their transition from grid dependence to energy abundance, showing how solar is supporting business growth, environmental leadership, and community impact across Western North Carolina.
