Battery Backup
Battery backup systems store energy for later use, powering homes and businesses for evenings, outages, and peak-rate hours. The amount of backup power depends on the battery capacity, number of batteries and system design. Our team can help you determine the right number of batteries to meet your goals.
Our In-House Service Team is the cherry on top!
Solar can be a worthwhile long-term investment for South Carolina property owners with sufficient sunlight, suitable installation space and energy usage that supports meaningful savings. Actual results depend on the property, utility provider, system size, financing terms, available incentives and current electricity rates.
It’s alarming to watch your utility bill climb higher and higher — with no sign of stopping. And fluctuating fuel costs make planning for your financial future challenging at best. Putting solar on your home or business gives you month-to-month financial stability, while also protecting you from rising rates.

Is Solar Worth it in South Carolina?
Switching to Solar Means:
-

Reducing the Electricity Purchased From Your Utility
With solar panels producing your energy on-site, you will reduce the amount of electricity to pull from the utility grid, and avoid the ever rising utility rates. And depending on the size of your system and your electricity needs, you may not even need to pull from the grid!
-

Gaining More Predictable Long-Term Energy Costs
By generating your own energy with solar panels, you can reduce exposure to future utility rate increases. Depending on the size of your system and your utility's net metering policy, you could eliminate your electric bill all together.
-

Adding Backup Power for Greater Energy Resilience
Having battery backup provides peace of mind in the case of a grid outage — with or without solar. When paired with solar, your battery will not only provide outage protection, but store power your system makes during the daytime to use when the sun goes down — giving you even greater energy independence.
-

Generating Cleaner, Renewable Energy
Solar energy is a responsible, dependable, renewable energy source. By choosing solar, you reduce your carbon footprint and lessen the demand for fossil fuels. This in turn aids in minimizing the risks associated with conventional energy use, and the impact extracting those limited resources has on our environment and us.
South Carolina Solar Incentives
Qualifying South Carolina homeowners and business owners may be able to take advantage of the state income tax credit equal to 25% of eligible solar purchase and installation costs.
*Annual limits, total limits, tax liability and other eligibility requirements apply. Customers should consult the South Carolina Department of Revenue and a qualified tax professional before making financial decisions.
Home and business owners may be eligible for a state solar tax credit equal to 25% of eligible purchase and installation costs. Because this credit is nonrefundable, it can reduce the state tax you owe down to zero, but it will not result in a cash refund. The maximum amount you can claim in a single tax year is subject to state-specific limits; however, any unused portions may be carried forward to future tax years according to current regulations.
Your exact savings depend on your individual tax situation and filing status. Please note that Sugar Hollow Solar does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice — we recommend consulting a qualified tax professional to confirm your eligibility and maximize your returns.
South Carolina Solar Energy Tax Credit
The former federal Residential Clean Energy Credit is not available for residential clean-energy expenditures made after December 31, 2025. Other incentives may differ for businesses, nonprofits or tax-exempt organizations. For example, the ITC is available for commercial systems installed before the end of 2027.
Customers should consult a tax professional regarding current eligibility.
Federal Solar Tax Credits & Incentives
Net metering is an interconnection policy from the utility provider that determines how your solar system connects to the electric grid, and how you receive credit for excess energy your system produces and pushes back to the grid. Think of net metering like an energy bank that allows you to save your extra solar energy for later use – cloudy days, at night, or during times when your home needs more electricity than your solar panels are producing.
Your net metering policy will depend on your utility provider. We’ve broken down net metering for the most common utility in South Carolina, Duke Energy.
