Fresh from keynoting the Asheville Ideas Festival, the legendary climate activist Bill McKibben has graciously agreed to be the guest speaker at a fundraiser for the Neighbor to Neighbor Low Income Solar Program of Green Built Alliance.
Join the Green Built Alliance for a robust conversation with their guest speaker Bill McKibben, Gandhi Peace Award Winner & Environmental Scholar, as he relays his vision for climate change action in a red state, along with what keeps him motivated and hopeful.
From 7-8pm you will enjoy music from local bluegrass band Zoe and Cloyd and heavy hors d'oeuvres from a local caterer. From 8-9pm, you’ll hear from Bill McKibben and have an opportunity to have his latest book signed. Books available for purchase from Malaprops Books.
Proceeds from registration will go to funding Green Built Alliance’s Neighbor to Neighbor Program, a triple bottom line program, it helps the environment, equity and the local economy. Last year, the program installed 12 solar systems for low income residents, many of them BIPOC, cutting utility bills for those who face the highest energy burden. Green Built Alliance hopes to install 20 more in the next two years. This year’s provider is Buncombe County’s very own Sugar Hollow Solar.
